This tip actually came from the guy that installed my dishwasher. Clean the inside of your dishwasher by adding 1 cup of white vinegar to an empty machine and run a full cycle. The vinegar will cut all the soap and mineral deposits. It also helps to wipe the bottom of the washer out with a paper towel to get any food particles before you run the cycle.
You only need to do this once in a while.
