Working on me.....

I have been thinking a lot on a strange thing I do that cases me a bit of trouble. Actually it cases misunderstandings more often than not. Usually with people who don't know me very well. This is how it works..... I will be talking with some one and they make a comment that makes me go off into this thought process, that appears to be my reacting to what they said, negatively. Sometimes I am so tired and I dont talk much or appear angry. Next thing I know the beginning of what could have quite possibly been a good friendship turns into a very uncomfortable situation. The other person thinks I am being rude or not very friendly or what ever and they are weird around me from that point on. Now this doesn't happen with every one I come in contact with. A lot of people have the ability to over look it or just simply make nothing of it. These people are great, wonderful friends.

I know I can be blunt about certain topics. That is me. My world consists of bluntness. I try not to be but it just happens sometimes. This to me is very simply truth. Truth is truth. Don't candy coat it. I have had to look the devil straight in the eye more often than I ever thought I would have to in this life and this is what I have learned from it.

I guess its the "misunderstanding" that is the issue. My late ex mother in-law said something to me one time that made so many things more clear to me. She said "People are who they are because of the things they have experienced in their lives". She actually read it in a book titled "The Divine Center". I later learned that I had a choice in how I allow the things that happen to me, affect me. The person I am. Do I choose happiness or misery? I choose happiness. This also helps me understand that every one is different. Not every one is going to "get me". I am OK with that. I just don't like the perception that arises from this whole thing. I am not purposely rude or unfriendly. I am a very happy, fun loving individual.

The thing I am trying to work on is how to handle the situation that cases these misunderstandings. How do I avoid it? Is it me that needs to make the change? Do I just move on and let it be what it be? Am I really the one with the problem? I know I am not perfect and that is what makes me examine these things, my faults more closely. Oh well, I will just keep working on me and let the Lord handle the rest.

Raini

Raini came home for the weekend. She brought two friends that had never been to AZ. Kelly from California and Makiko from Japan. It was fun to see people enjoy the beauty of our state. Seeing things through another's eyes brought back the appreciation for all the beauty that is all around us. Especially Makiko. Everything she saw was so beautiful and exciting. Even a cactus. To see her jump for joy, literally, filled me with the same joy. We went to Sedona to see the red rocks. They went rock hopping at Oak Creek. We stopped at the top of the canyon to look down and browsed the Native American jewelry venders. We spent the night at my mom and dads. My sisters family came. They live in Flag. We went to dinner in Williams at a place called Cruisers. Raini took a picture of Makiko dressed in Harley Davidson gear and we asked a biker guy to pose with her. He was great. We made S'mores at the fire pit my parents have in their back yard. A first for Makiko. She really enjoyed making the S'mores. Raini and I entertained them with all the goofy camp songs. We learned a new song from my niece Sedona. Listened to the train pass all night long. Didn't get much sleep. The next day my dad took them on a hike up Mount Humphrey (I think that was the mountain). My dad made it all the way to the top. He was very excited about that. He is in 70's. Not bad. We had lunch then headed for Phx. Raini had to go home later that night. Another 6 hr. drive. It was a very nice visit. I will post some pictures if Raini sends them to me. HINT, HINT!!!!!!! Very good weekend.

Dave's working hard...

He's off to Brown University and I'll see him in two months and counting... :) Love you Davey!

Dave's Satellite

So my hubby is super awesome... hahahaha, not very humble. He just had a satellite go into space a few Tuesdays ago (May 19) .

Last spring he went to work for NASA for 4 months developing a Cube-Sat Class satellite. Basically, it is a really small and really cool satellite that functions like the large ones. The way he built and designed the satellite was different than before because he used off the shelf products.

If you're interested in watching the huge Minotaur 1 rocket go into space, check out this link.

If you look at the few comments left, you'll see people giving him thumbs up and a "Go Beach!" which is CSULB's motto.

So proud of you!!!!!
